Base Layers, Tees and Fleeces

Mountain Equipment Crux Tee
Great design and active fit I've owned many Mountain Equipment base layers and will continue to do so due to great design and active fit, does exactly what is says on the tin while always keeping shape ready for the next adventure.

Karrimor Aspen Technical T Shirt
Don't be put off by the cheaper base layer such as the Karrimor range. The Aspen is less than half the price of its premium rivals but does exactly the same job.

Montane Dart T Shirt
Made from light, wicking Apex D-Fuse fabric along with Polygiene odour-control treatment, the Montane Dart T-Shirt makes a great baselayer or an excellent summer T Shirt.

Montane Bionic Base Layer Crew Neck
Montane is a product that I find myself searching for time and time again. Yes you will pay a little more for Montane products but as the saying goes ‘you get what you pay for’ from the fit down to design Montane continues to impress with their across the board field in outdoor kit.

Trekmates Merino Contrast Zip Base Layer
Made from light, soft and highly breathable Smartwool the Merino system is both new to the Trekmates range and indeed myself. Still under test I fear I should have read recent reviews of this product as it's common for mis-shaping after a few washes which is a shame as the Rab equivalent was just £1.00 cheaper.

Rab Merino Long Sleeve Tee
I was still making my mind up over Merino base layers but after purchasing Rab's latest addition during the Summer of 2016 I was again disappointed with how easily they misshape which didn't sit well after paying close to £50.00 I personally think that the big outdoor manufactures need to go back to the drawing board where Merino wool is concerned.

Rab Dryflo Long Sleeve Tee
The Dryflo is made from a high performance technical fabric which controls odour and helps to wick away sweat. The fabric also delfects UV rays during the Summer months while acting as a great base layer through Winter.

Berghaus Tech Tee Long Sleeve Zip Neck
I've owned countless Berghaus base layers which tend to be more affordable than the high range brands while doing exactly the same job,

Montane Dart Long Sleeve Tee
Awaiting review.

Craghoppers Noselife Long Sleeve Shirt
The Noselife shirt brings a new and fresh dimension to base layering, generally used throughout the Summer months or indeed, used as a layer under a lightweight jacket.

Mountain Equipment Micro Zip Fleece
i wanted something to replace my ageing Rab Power Stretch so I went out and purchased the Mountain Equipment Micro Zip Fleece. Initially I found that the fit wasn't as active and more bulky than the Power Stretch and therefore I tended to go back to the Rab which despite getting on for five years old hasn't lost its shape and still keeps me warm when used as a base layer during the Winter months. The Micro Fleece is still a great purchase although I tend to use it when taking my dogs out as opposed to when out on the fells.

Rab Power Stretch Zip Top
A well proven tough base layer that I have relied upon for the last five years my Rab Power Stretch has kept its shape well over the years while still maintaining to keep me warm through the Winter months. I can fully recommend the Power Stretch to any serious fell walker.
