Aptly named The Struggle found between Ambleside and the top of Kirkstone Pass parking here can be a struggle, sorry for the pun. Not many start a walk from here mainly because the road is steep and narrow and with few spaces to park most would opt to park in Ambleside or at the carpark opposite the Kirkstone Inn at the top of Kirkstone Pass but there a few spots you can start a walk from which is convenient for a walk over Snarker Pike and Red Screes. My advise would be to arrive early, the parking place featured here was the one I used on the walk below but after driving over The Struggle I have noticed more spaces with room for just the one car. Parking is free. |
