Frozen Westwood Flash.
I very rarely post local walks from home but it was so nice this morning I decided to take a few pictures which I'd then forgotten about until yesterday. This is Westwood Flash (lake) one of eight lakes within the Wigan Flashes Nature Reserve which I'm lucky enough to say is just minutes away from home.

Brad and Holly.
Here's two pampered Westies I think you've met before.

Holly and Brad
Both twelve years old now Holly still acts half her age while I've noticed that Brad likes to spend more time sniffing and has definitely become more stubborn in his senior years, a classic Westie trait.

Pearson's Flash is next.

Continuing along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Unlike the opposite side of the tow path this side isn't paved, that was until I returned from the Lakes one Saturday afternoon last Summer and found that fine gravel had been laid and then compacted which set like concrete and now we don't get muddy paws when walking on this side of the canal anymore.

Moss Bridge over the Leeds & Liverpool canal.

Brad and Holly.
During the Winter months after work I still come out onto the canal with my head torch whilst these two wear their light up L.E.D collars.

Passing through woodland.
About two miles into the walk. What a beautiful day.

Heading back towards the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
The boardwalk to the right passes through the wetland which is where Brad and Holly always do their disappearing act.

... only to reapear moments later.

Cheeky little buggers.

Semi-frozen Scotman's Flash.
Time to head back home now for breakfast.
