Crag Fell is a fine, abribt height, prominently in view of the approach to Ennerdale from the west, its configurations being such that it may easily be, and often is, mistaken for Pillar by those who have not studied their maps sufficiently, the illusion being strengthened by the conspicuous excrescence of rock on its north slope, which seen in profile, might, at a glance, be thought to be the famous Pillar Rock.
