Above the 1900; contour Birks is a half-miles easy grass promenade and there is nothing here to suggest that there are formidable crags below on both sides, yet the Grisedale flank has a continuous line of cliffs and round to the east are several tiers of rock above the lower wooded slopes of Glemara Park.
